Always aim for the moon…

Today is the second day of 2019 and I am excited to start the year with the right foot and the right attitude to make big things for me. Starting a blog has been in my to do list for quite some time, so I decided to finally make it a project by combining it with my new year resolutions for 2019.

I selected this phrase for my blog because I am a believer that we should always try our best in every situation, especially when it is related to achieving our dreams and dearest desires. It is true that we might not always get what we want or reach our ultimate goal, but landing among the stars sounds good enough to me too, and I have experienced it myself quite some times.

So, my purpose with this blog is mainly sharing my bucketlist and how I am achieving my dreams and wishes one at a time. I think it is something anyone can relate to, and I would love to know about your known dreams and your journey, which is also a very exciting part of the experience. Sometimes, it surprises me the way in which we end up getting what we want, because there are ocassions in which our dreams come true in the most unexpected ways.

Actually, I have a little blue notebook in which I have written the bucketlist for my life. I started it about 3 years ago and I saw the idea somewhere in the internet (I don’t remember where). I instantly loved it and thought that was a great idea for me. So I sat down and started writing a dream in each page. what I do, is that I leave the rest of the page blank as well as the back side. The idea is to write down a little story about the moment when the dream comes true along with the date when it is achieved.  The blank space could also be used to add an illustration, cut out or picture, but I haven’t done that so far.

For example, my wish number 6 is “to see a cherry tree bloom, doesn’t matter the place”. I wrote that because in the past,  I have been blessed with such a view in Washington DC, by the Jefferson memorial in summer 2002.  I wanted to have that chance again, so I wrote it down and so far I have entered the January-february 2017 and January-February 2018 in the notebook. You see, I moved from Mexico to Anderson SC in August 2016, and joyfully there are cherry trees in some parts of this town, so I have been enjoying the blooming trees for 2 years now.

Another example, my wish number 38 is to go to Rome with my husband. I have been there before with my parents and sister, but I still would love to explore such a magnificent city by his side.

A final example, my wish number 49 was to see Anastasia the Broadway Musical. I remember it was a dream for me and I wondered how it would happen. A year after I heard about the news of the production, my mother and I traveled to NYC and saw it together in November 9th, 2017. Then, in 2018 the same play came to Greenville, SC in October 27th  and I was there again.  So, for this particular dream, I already have two “posts” and I think I am very lucky to have experienced it twice.

So, this is the way I keep track of my dreams. So far, I have 54 written. Most of them blank and waiting to be conquered, which I think is exciting. I wonder how many of them will I be able to get in 2019. Good news is that today is just day 2.
I write my wishes down as they come to me in my everyday life. I aim high, so I write whatever I want, doesn’t matter how crazy or hard they might seem to be.  That doesn’t stop me from keeping them as goals. The specifics as how to get to them will be revealed later, and as I said sometimes in the most unexpected ways.

I don’t know if I will be able to live all the dreams in my notebook before I die; but it is motivating to have them cheering me up each day and to keep me working towards them one day at a time. You see, sometimes the most satisfying feeling comes from the process it takes you to achieve your goals. From that journey you decide to make in order to get what you really want.

So, what do you think? Do you have your own bucket list wishes in mind? Do you have them on paper? How about trying the notebook idea for 2019? I would love to know what you think.
